Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Scaled Editor is built with privacy as a foundation. Your videos, recordings, and projects stay on your device — we never see them. The only information we handle is what's needed to run your account and subscription.

The short version: Your content lives on your iPhone, not our servers. When you sign in, we store only what's needed to identify your account. We don't track you, don't sell your data, and don't run ads.

Information We Collect

Account information (when you sign in)

When you sign in to Scaled Editor using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive:

That's it. We don't ask for your phone number, address, birthday, or any other identifying information.

Subscription information

When you subscribe to Scaled Editor, your payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your credit card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage your subscription status — RevenueCat receives a transaction identifier from Apple and your account identifier from us, which lets us know whether your subscription is active. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details on their data handling.

Content you create in the app

None of this is sent to us. All video clips, audio recordings, transcripts, project files, and voiceovers are processed and stored entirely on your device. We do not operate servers that store, process, or back up your content.

How We Use Your Information

We use the limited account information we collect only to:

We do not use your information for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any other purpose.

Permissions We Request

To function as a video editor, Scaled Editor requests access to certain features of your device. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose:

Camera

To record video clips inside the app. Recordings stay on your device.

Microphone

To capture audio with your video clips and to record voiceovers. Audio stays on your device.

Photo Library

To import existing video clips from your library and, with your permission, to save exported videos back to your camera roll.

Speech Recognition

To detect spoken takes within your clips. Speech recognition is performed using Apple's on-device Speech framework. Apple may, depending on your device and locale, route audio through Apple's servers as part of its system-level speech recognition. This is Apple's system behavior — Scaled Editor itself never transmits your audio or transcripts.

Third-Party Services

Scaled Editor uses a small number of third-party services to support sign-in and subscriptions. We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Sign in with Apple

Used to authenticate users who choose to sign in with their Apple ID. Apple shares only an identifier and (optionally) your name and email with us. Apple's privacy practices apply.

Sign in with Google

Used to authenticate users who choose to sign in with their Google account. Google shares only your basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) with us. Google's privacy practices apply.

RevenueCat

Used to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives transaction identifiers and account identifiers — no payment information, no content, no personal information beyond what's needed to validate your subscription.

Tracking

We do not track you. Scaled Editor does not use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), does not implement App Tracking Transparency prompts (because we don't track), and does not record analytics events tied to your identity. We do not share your information with advertising networks.

iCloud Sync

Scaled Editor uses Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store to sync a single user preference (your preferred recording mode) across your own devices. This contains no personal information or content — just a setting. This sync is handled by Apple and never touches our servers.

Children's Privacy

Scaled Editor is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

Account Deactivation and Deletion

You have two ways to step away from Scaled Editor, available directly inside the app under the Account screen:

Deactivate Account

Temporary. Pauses your account but keeps your data. You'll be signed out and sign-in is disabled until you reactivate by signing back in. Your projects, voiceovers, and subscription records stay intact on your device. Use this if you want a break or are troubleshooting and might come back.

Delete Account

Permanent and irreversible. When you delete your account:

Account deletion is provided in compliance with Apple's App Store requirements for apps that offer sign-in.

If you'd like a copy of the limited account information we hold, or have any questions about your data, email us at support@scalededitor.com.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect the limited account information we collect. Authentication is handled by Apple and Google. Subscription validation is handled by RevenueCat over encrypted connections. Because we don't store your videos, transcripts, or projects on our servers, the most sensitive part of your usage simply never leaves your device.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you within the app. Your continued use of Scaled Editor after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
