Frequently asked

Common questions.

Where are my videos and projects stored?

Everything is stored locally on your iPhone. We don't have servers — your clips, audio, transcripts, and projects never leave your device. This means your content is private, but it also means you should back up important projects (e.g., by exporting finished videos to your camera roll).

How does Film Session work?

Tap "Film Session" to hand off to your iPhone Camera. Record as many clips as you want — every clip you capture during the session lands automatically in your Scaled Editor timeline when you return to the app. No transferring, no re-importing.

What's the difference between Standard and Voiceover mode?

Standard is for on-camera shoots. You record yourself or a subject in the iPhone Camera, and Scaled Editor auto-imports the clips into a timeline.

Voiceover is for B-roll-led content. You record narration first, then drop in B-roll footage, and Scaled Editor syncs the cuts to your voice automatically.

Can I import videos I already shot?

Yes. Use the Camera Roll button to pull from your photo library, or Files to import from iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or anywhere else.

Do I need an account to use the app?

You can sign in with Apple or Google to sync subscription entitlements across your devices and access account features. Sign-in is optional for the free portion of the app — you can edit videos without an account.

Is Scaled Editor free?

Scaled Editor offers both a free tier and optional subscription features for advanced workflows. Subscriptions are managed through Apple's In-App Purchase system. You can view current pricing inside the app.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Email us at support@scalededitor.com with as much detail as you can: what you were doing, what happened, and your iPhone model + iOS version. Screenshots or screen recordings help a lot.

I have a feature request. Will you build it?

Maybe! Send it over. We can't promise we'll build everything, but we read every request and prioritize what comes up most often.

What's the difference between Deactivate Account and Delete Account?

Deactivate is temporary. It signs you out and pauses your account, but your projects, voiceovers, and subscription records stay intact. Sign back in whenever you want to reactivate.

Delete is permanent. It wipes your profile (email and name from Apple or Google) and any server-side records tied to your account. Local projects are removed on the next launch.

Important about subscriptions: Deleting your account does NOT cancel your Apple subscription. To stop being billed, also go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone and cancel there.

What devices does Scaled Editor work on?

Scaled Editor is built for iPhone (iOS). iPad and Android support are not currently planned, but may come in the future.
