Terms of Service
By downloading or using Scaled Editor, you agree to these Terms. They're written to be readable, not to confuse you.
Plain English: Use the app for what it's for. Don't break it, don't use it for anything illegal, back up your important projects, and remember that subscriptions auto-renew through Apple. We try our best to keep it working well.
1. Who We Are
Scaled Editor (the "App") is an iOS application owned and operated by Scaled Editor ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the App. By installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Scaled Editor. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to use the App.
3. License to Use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Scaled Editor on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple App Store Terms of Service.
This license does not allow you to:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code.
- Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
4. Accounts
You can sign in to Scaled Editor using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@scalededitor.com.
Inside the App, under the Account screen, you have two options for stepping away:
- Deactivate Account — temporary. Pauses your account, signs you out, and disables sign-in until you reactivate by signing back in. Your data remains intact.
- Delete Account — permanent and irreversible. Wipes your profile information and any server-side records tied to your account. Local projects are removed on the next launch. Important: Deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription. To stop being billed, you must also cancel the subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone (see Section 6 below).
5. Your Content
Scaled Editor is a tool for creating and editing video content. You retain full ownership of all videos, audio, transcripts, and projects you create or import using the App ("Your Content").
Because all Your Content is stored locally on your device, we do not have access to it, and we do not claim any rights to it. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have the right to use, edit, and distribute it.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Scaled Editor offers subscription-based features ("Subscriptions") through Apple's In-App Purchase system. By starting a Subscription, you agree to the following:
- All Subscriptions are processed through Apple and are subject to Apple's terms.
- Subscription pricing and the features included are shown inside the App at the time of purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- You can manage and cancel your Subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone).
- Canceling stops future renewals; your existing Subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If a free trial is offered, it will automatically convert to a paid Subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.
We use RevenueCat to validate and manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives transaction identifiers from Apple and your account identifier from us. We do not handle, store, or have access to your payment information.
7. App Updates
We may release updates to Scaled Editor from time to time, including new features, bug fixes, and changes to existing functionality. You may need to install updates to continue using the App. We are not obligated to maintain or support older versions.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Scaled Editor to create, edit, or distribute content that:
- Infringes on anyone's intellectual property rights.
- Violates anyone's privacy or publicity rights.
- Is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, or hateful.
- Contains sexual content involving minors.
- Promotes violence, terrorism, or illegal activity.
We reserve the right to refuse service or terminate accounts of anyone violating these Terms.
9. Third-Party Services
Scaled Editor integrates with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, Apple's In-App Purchase system, and RevenueCat for subscription management. Your use of these services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behavior of third-party services.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
Scaled Editor is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components. You use the App at your own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of (or inability to use) Scaled Editor.
Because Scaled Editor stores all content locally on your device, we strongly recommend backing up important projects regularly. We are not responsible for any loss of content due to device failure, accidental deletion, or app uninstallation.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Scaled Editor, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
13. Termination
You may stop using Scaled Editor at any time by uninstalling the App and, if you have an account, deleting it from inside the App. If you have an active Subscription, remember to also cancel it through your Apple ID settings.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct we determine to be harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated within the App. Your continued use of Scaled Editor after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Scaled Editor will be resolved in the courts located in the United States.
16. Apple-Specific Terms
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App.
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
